DOBOZ PROJECT, OCTOPUS

Gábor Miklós Szőke’s interior and outdoor installations for one of the best-known night clubs of Budapest were made in 2011. The works were inspired by the building, they reinterpret the meanings of the spaces. The three installations can be found on three different levels, they are fictional stops in a mythological underworld. In the inner courtyard above the dance floor and the whole building, a muscular gorilla reminiscent of King Kong is climbing an old tree, its eyes give off a red light, it is the central figure of this space. In another room, a Bull Terrier is jumping out from inside the wall towards the guests. This piece was inspired by the most typical pets seen in the side streets of the neighborhood. The third space is laced by a psychedelic installation of an Octopus, which gobbles up everything with its tentacles, its body floating in the vibrating light above and amongst the people.
